Course Details

Course:Watanabe Practical Shoulder Arthroscopy Course - Reconstructive
Date:15 - 16 November 2018
Course convened by:Julie McBirnie & Steve Drew
Details:The Watanabe Club is an informal non-affiliated group of dedicated shoulder arthroscopists who are committed to developing training in shoulder arthroscopy in the UK. The Reconstructive course will be of value to those with some experience in shoulder arthroscopy.

Delegates will gain hands-on experience in practical techniques using models and cadaver material, and are encouraged to bring case studies on disc for discussion. The high proportion of faculty members to delegates (1:2) will ensure direct supervision and interaction. Both courses will involve lectures, models and cadaveric work. There are only 20 delegate places so delegates are invited to register early to avoid disappointment.

Please note that delegates should have attended the Diagnostic and Therapeutic course before 14 November 2018 and/or have reasonable clinical and practical experience in diagnostic shoulder arthroscopy and simple arthroscopic procedures before attending the Reconstructive course. Due to course Convener's requirements you are unable to register to attend both courses as the courses are designed to be attended at different intervals.

Reconstructive minimum requirements - delegates should either be senior registrar Year 5/6 trainee or consultant level, with significant operative experience (more than 20 cases unassisted) with ASD surgery. Delegates should be comfortable with triangulation, portal and cannula placement and the basics of debridement and tissue preparation.

Places are limited so early registration is encouraged. Please note the course fee does not include travel or accommodation.

This course is intended for UK delegates only. Please contact your local Smith & Nephew representative.
